Job Description: Restores, maintains and enhances the recovery of clients seeking help for addiction and/or addiction related impacts by implementing various modalities of addiction recovery programs. Responsibilities include providing informational programming as well as individual and group counselling sessions with clients. This position will be expected to assess individual and group needs of clients and implement plans to help clients reach their goals

Experience

  • An equivalent of education and experience may be considered

Education

  • Addictions Counselling diploma

Licenses

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license

Competencies

  • Problem solving skills

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Knowledge in holistic addictions treatment model
  • Knowledge in factors affecting family dynamics
  • Ability to screen for addictions and/or addiction related symptoms
  • Knowledge in group dynamics
  • Knowledge in Transtheoretical model of change
  • Knowledge in co-current disorders and issues related to gambling addictions
  • Knowledge in applying a cognitive-behavioral or other major modes of therapy
  • Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Knowledge in various mental health and addiction and harm reduction strategies
  • Knowledge of addictions interventions involving drugs, alcohol or tobacco
  • Knowledge in Developmental Model of Recovery
  • Demonstrate knowledge in addiction(s) and their effects on the individual.

  • La Ronge is located approximately 241 km north of Prince Albert
  • Preference to HSAS members as per the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement
  • 1 year community/inpatient experience in addictions/mental health is an asset
