CALL OUT FOR CASUAL EMPLOYMENT
Licensed Practical Nurse
For the community of La Ronge
Lac La Ronge Indian Band Health Services is calling out for Casual Licensed Practical Nurses to work in the community of La Ronge and to provide nursing care services to the four (4) outlying LLRIB communities.
The Casuals will be required to cover any leaves of Permanent staff at any time.
As this employment is on a casual-basis, there are no guaranteed shift hours.
Duties:
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and work under pressure independently as well as a member of a team;
- Evaluating client progress and updating care plan based on on-going nursing assessments;
- Provide counselling and case management for people who are living with mental health and/or substance use issues;
- Providing specialized nursing care for home care and personal care to clients as required;
- Performing nursing treatments and procedures as ordered by the Physician such as catheterizations, catheter irrigation, injections, sterile dressings, wound care, monitoring blood pressures and blood glucose, monitoring medications;
- Providing rehabilitation procedures in consultation with Occupational Therapist and Physical Therapists;
- Providing palliative nursing care and coordinating in-home respite services;
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor & or designate.
Qualifications:
- Registered with the Saskatchewan Association of Licensed Practical Nurses (SALPN);
- Experience working with children/youth with FASD and their families is an asset;
- Experience working with mothers and infants (in the area of infant development);
- Acute or Home Care experience is an asset;
- Must be able to work independently, be self-directed and demonstrate organizational skills;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Excellent problem solving & organizational abilities;
- Excellent interpersonal, & public relation skills;
- Experience and knowledge with computers and office equipment are an asset;
- Must have Valid Class 5 Driver's License;
- First Aid/CPR Certification is an asset;
- Security Clearance: Criminal Records Check, Vulnerable Sector Check and Driver's Abstract required upon hire.
