Job Description

Position: Personal Care Worker

Facility: Lac La Ronge Indian Band Health Services

City/Town: Wawuhtewikumihk Group Home, Far Reserve, La Ronge, SK

Type: Permanent, Full Time

FTE: 1

Shift Information: Working 12-hour shifts with a rotating schedule

Salary or Pay Band: As per Terms and Conditions of Employment

Job Description:

The Licensed Group Home is responsible for providing guidance, support and supervision for individuals with Cognitive, Mental and Physical Disabilities that require 24/7 care.

Personal Care Workers support and supervise individuals with physical abilities; use a team approach to plan, organize and supervise daily activities; prepare and serve meals as planned; administer prescribed medications

  • Support and supervise individuals with physical disabilities;
  • Use a team approach to plan, organize and supervise daily activities, recreational and other services;
  • Prepare and serve meals as planned;
  • Assess needs of residents on an on-going basis;
  • Maintain sanitation of Group Home;
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Travel Required: Yes

Education

  • Grade 12; combination of education/experience may be considered
  • Continuing Care Aide Certificate,, Personal Care Worker Certificate or Home Health Aide certificate required
  • Previous Home Care or Acute Care experience is an asset

Licenses

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Certified First Aide & CPR and Safe Food Handling Certificate is an asset &/ or willing to learn

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Must be able to work independently and collaboratively with the Group home team, and demonstrate strong organizational skills;
  • Strong Written and verbal communication;
  • Previous home care or childcare experience is an asset;
  • Experience working with First Nations Communities is an asset
