Job Description: The Mental Health Social Worker will provide client-driven health and social case management assistance to children and youth in the community and those clients attending the Health Centre to achieve safe and reasonable goals that will optimize clients' health and wellness and improve their quality of life. The Mental Health Social Worker works in collaboration with clients, their families and community and government agencies, and works closely with the Mental and Addictions teams. The Mental Health Social Worker also acts as a resource to and supports the development of community and interagency initiatives as they pertain to their mandate.

Education

  • Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)

Licenses

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Knowledge in Continuous Quality Improvement program development and delivery
  • Knowledge in mental health treatment resources
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention and prevention programs
  • Knowledge in family violence, trauma, loss and grief, addiction, and poverty
  • Knowledge in human development and family dynamics
  • Ability to provide public education regarding children/youth mental health issues
  • Knowledge in individual assessment and counselling skills

  • La Ronge is located approximately 241 km north of Prince Albert
  • Registered/eligible with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (SASW)
  • Experience with children, youth and families is preferred.
  • Preference to HSAS members as per the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement
