The Lac La Ronge Indian Band's Executive Department is now accepting applications for the following Full-Time Term position (starting August 1, 2024 to July 31, 2025) based out of La Ronge, Sucker, River, and Hall Lake SK:

Youth Justice Intervention Liaison

The suitable candidate will be able to perform the following job duties:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with community leaders, organizations, schools, and residents to identify and address ongoing high-risk situations in the community.
  • Conduct regular outreach activities in the communities affected by violence to provide resources, support, and information to high risk youth and their families.
  • Organize and participate in community events, workshops, and forums focused on violence prevention and intervention.
  • Identify youth at risk of justice involvement and provide mentorship, counseling, and support services to divert them from contact with the criminal justice system.
  • Develop and implement programs aimed at educating youth about the dangers of street-oriented youth groups that participate in criminal activities and promote positive alternatives.
  • Collaborate with schools, social services, and other agencies to create comprehensive intervention plans for at-risk individuals.
  • Serve as a liaison between law enforcement and the community to foster trust, cooperation, and information sharing.
  • Assist in developing and implementing strategies to reduce violence and crime in the communities of Hall Lake, Sucker River, and La Ronge.
  • Provide case management services to youth at risk, including referrals to education, employment, housing, and substance abuse programs.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of outreach activities, client interactions, and case progress.
  • Monitor the progress of individuals in intervention programs and provide ongoing support to ensure successful reintegration into the community.
  • Stay current on trends, best practices, and research related to high-risk and street orientated youth groups and prevention efforts.

Candidates must possess the following job specific qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field. Relevant work experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in community outreach, social services, or law enforcement, with a focus on gang prevention and intervention.
  • Strong understanding of gang culture, dynamics, and related issues.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and in high-risk environments.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Successful completion of a background check.
  • Must provide a satisfactory Driver's Abstract and Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector check.
