Job Description:

This position performs intake duties, one-on-one counseling and group facilitation, community outreach responsibilities, along with a broad range of addictions-related services and mental health counselling. Clients include individuals, families or groups struggling with substance use. These individuals may be aggressive, depressed, anxious, withdrawn, suicidal or traumatized and may be involved in the criminal justice system. Public education and other primary prevention activities are required as well as a range of integrated case-management services and consults with other organizations and agencies. Major challenges include managing a large and diverse caseload, developing the technical skills to deal with a broad range of presenting problems and developing the skill to accurately and succinctly document care plans and progress relating to case management activities. This is a multi-site position providing services to Battlefords Mental Health Centre and Hopeview Recovery Home.

Human Resources Exemption: No

Experience

  • 1 year experience in the area of mental health and addiction services

Education

  • Degree in Addiction Counseling or another Degree acceptable to the Employer

Licenses

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Ability to adapt to changing conditions
  • Knowledge in applying a cognitive-behavioral or other major modes of therapy
  • Knowledge in addictions specific twelve core functions

Other Information

  • Transporting clients to programs and appointments will be required.
  • Preference to HSAS members as per the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement
