Job Description

The newly revitalized Hospitalist service at the Battlefords Union Hospital, known as the Connected Inpatient Care (CIC) Team is seeking more Hospitalists to join our team!

The Family Physician Hospitalist will provide those Physician Services related specifically to the practice of CIC Services in accordance with their training and SHA privileges. The Physician will act as the Most Responsible Physician (MRP) for patients admitted to the identified CIC. The typical patient to physician ration will be up to 24:1, understanding that there may be variation based on admission and discharge timing and patient complexity and acuity. CIC Services is a physician coverage model whereby the Physician provides service in the capacity of the Most Responsible Physician for patients admitted into the service.

Relocation Package

Recruitment and relocation stipend available for 1, 2, 3 year return of service up to $15,000

Job Qualifications

The successful candidate must be eligible for licensure from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan. Ideal candidates will have their CCFP or FRCPC in Internal Medicine. Both are welcome.

New grads are welcome, and encouraged to apply. As a high volume and high acuity service, the experience gained has been previously described as "a third year of training." Many of our previous and current Hospitalists started out as new grads, and constantly praise the level of acute care experience they receive, as well as the collegial work environment and excellent specialist support.

Specialist Support:

-24/7 Internal Medicine support is available locally. They are always happy to consult by phone for advice, and will come in/take over patients if they are too sick for hospitalist. All ICU patients taken by IM.
-General Surgery, Psychiatry, Palliative Care, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, and ER colleagues are all available locally. Allied Health services include Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Home Care, Discharge Planners, Wound Care, and Pharmacy (one pharmacist rounds with us each day!). Remaining specialties are available via SFCC.
