Job Description

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) and the Onion Lake Medical Clinic are looking for a full-time family physician to provide comprehensive primary health care services to the residents of Onion Lake. The physician will assume all duties pertaining to the general practice of medicine.

Job Qualifications

All candidates must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan as well as hold Canadian Medical Protective Association insurance registration. Must be willing to travel to Onion Lake to provide services in person, with the option to reside in the community of Onion Lake.

Additional Information

Onion Lake Cree Nation has a population of 4,780 citizens and is located approximately 50 km or 30 miles from the community of Lloydminster. You will be given the support of the clinic's administrative office, medical office assistant and clinic switchboard. Clinic hours are Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Services include:

• On-site laboratory with Genix testing available 8:00 a.m. 3:30 p.m. Monday - Friday with daily transports to Lloydminster Hospital and supports with the SHA
• Full Pharmacy on site available 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday
• Clinic staff include: Clinic Nurse Coordinator, Clinic LPN, (2) Nurse Practitioners ((1) available Monday - Friday on-site; (1) Virtual appointments Monday - Friday with on-site visit once/monthly), Clinic Diabetes Nurse Educator, Diabetes Registered Dietician with strong linkages with Public Health, Community Health, Wellness sessions and wellness department. This includes Harm Reduction and STI RN's providing treatment and education.
• Community has active treatment facility and registered Psychologist.
• Well-equipped treatment services offering primary care services such as suturing, casting, IV therapy, reviewing X-rays, transfers to tertiary sites and other professionals such as psychological services.
• The Onion Lake Health Clinic utilizes MedAccess and eHR.
• There is full EMS ambulance service in the community.
• Several group homes as well as active Home Care and Palliative Care services with support from Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse and HHA services.
• Dental Clinic on site which offers (2) dental programs; one being private dental office (Crowfoot Dental) which includes (4) chair dental clinic with dentist on site five days/week, providing full scope services. This includes a school dental program, dental therapists/dental aid providing preventive/clinic services in each of five schools.
