Hours of Work: 96 hours per 3 weeks rotation

Scheduled hours of work may be reduced during the rotation stipulated when a statutory holiday is recognized during that period.

Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Addictions Counsellor - Diploma $29.584 to $36.176

Job Description: As a member of the Interdisciplinary Team, and under the general direction of the Addictions Counsellor - Degree (Alcohol & Addictions services worker), the primary goal will be to restore, maintain and enhance the recovery of people seeking help for addiction and/or addiction related issues by implementing various modalities of addiction recovery programs. Responsibilities include providing informational programming as well as individual and group counselling sessions with clients.

Experience

  • Inpatient services and/or harm reduction setting is required

Education

  • Chemical Dependency diploma

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Knowledge in best practices in addictions and harm reduction strategies
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to screen for addictions and/or addiction related symptoms
  • Demonstrates knowledge of a Holistic Addiction Treatment Model
  • Knowledge of screening and addiction assessment tools and procedures.
  • Ability to accurately assess addiction(s) and make appropriate recovery plans.
  • Ability to deliver workshops and lecture material to clients and community
  • Knowledge of community resources in the addictions field.
  • Ability to organize work load demands
  • Work collaboratively w/ a multidisciplinary team & other agencies in the commnty
  • Demonstrates knowledge in addiction(s) and their effects on family units
  • Knowledge in group dynamics
