Job Description: The Communicable Disease Control/Immunization Program Coordinator is accountable for planning, implementation and evaluation of Communicable Disease Control (CDC) and Immunization programs. The CDC/Immunization Program Coordinator's scope of practice requires a broad knowledge base and autonomous decision-making skills, with a specialized focus on implementation of provincial standards related to Communicable Disease Control and Immunization programs. The coordinator role provides program orientation, ongoing in servicing and support to staff in CDC and Immunization program standards. This position is also responsible for auditing program standards for staff adherence, as well as CDC reporting required by the Ministry.

Experience

  • 5 years nursing experience in primary care, public/community health nursing

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
  • Course credits in community health and public health nursing are required

Licenses

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license

Other Education and Training

  • CNA certificate in clinical practice area is an asset

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Knowledge in community health nursing theory and principles
  • Ability to manage anaphylaxis and immunization administration

  • Computer skills, where required
  • Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
