Job Description: The Specialist, First Nations and Métis Health works closely with the Manager & Director in providing key guidance in implementation of the strategic directions set out by SHA ELT, Board of Directors, Ministry of Health and external First Nations and Métis partners/stakeholders. The Specialist supports strategy through development and execution of provincial operational and business plans. The Specialist must work cross functionally within the provincial portfolio and across the organization to support operations and promote their strategy. The Specialist works closely with provincial system leaders, physicians, educational institutions and community partners. The Specialist is responsible for delivering the Ministry of Health's and SHA's priorities into key actions throughout the province and all SHA portfolios. Key accountabilities include traditional pathways, culturally responsive education, research consultations, high level provincial internal and external engagement, and culturally responsive recruitment and retention.

Experience

  • Experience working with First Nations and Metis communities and organizations
  • 3-5 years' experience working in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment

Education

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in a health related field

Licenses

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license

Other Education and Training

  • Undergraduate degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Undergraduate degree in Health or Social Sciences
  • Licensed, and in good standing, with regulatory body, if applicable
