Job Summary

As a member of the Adult services team and under the general direction of the Manager, the primary goal will be to restore, maintain and enhance the recovery of people seeking help for addiction and/or addiction related issues through the implementation of addiction recovery programs. Addiction best practices will be utilized to improve client outcomes.

Education

  • Diploma or Degree in Chemical Dependency studies or BSW and/or another Baccalaureate discipline (generally social sciences or human services) acceptable to the employer.

Other Education and Training

  • Bachelor of Chemical Dependency is acceptable

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge in addiction(s) and their effects on the individual.
  • Ability to accurately triage addiction(s) and collectively develop a recovery and case plan.
  • Knowledge of screening and addiction assessment tools and procedures.
  • Knowledge of group dynamics.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of a Holistic Addiction Treatment Model and the Transtheoretical Model of Change.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic tools such as Motivational Interviewing and CBT.
  • Knowledge of best practices in addiction field and harm reduction strategies.
  • Knowledge of community resources in the addictions field.
  • Ability to deliver workshops and lecture material to clients.
  • Ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of and ability to monitor and assess withdrawal symptoms related to substance use.
  • Efficient computer skills.

  • Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement. HSAS seniority within the Saskatchewan Health Authority will be considered under the Selection Criteria.
