We are seeking a team-oriented and professional Non-Invasive Cardiologist to become part of our dynamic and expanding Medicine Department. SHA Regina Area Cardiologists enjoy an independent, fee-for-service practice with admitting and consulting privileges in our acute care facilities. The successful candidate will participate in a Tier 1 call rotation remunerated via the Specialist Emergency Care Program that is evenly distributed amongst members of the Regina Area Division of Cardiology.
The Regina Area has a full complement of inpatient and outpatient cardiology services including nuclear cardiology, echocardiography, CHF clinic, adult congenital clinic, stress lab, Cardiac MRI and Cardiac CT. Invasive cardiology is completed in a state-of-the-art unit at the Regina General Hospital, including a state-of-the-art Electrophysiology Lab (EP Lab) performing a full complement of ablation procedures and device implants. The Regina area has a total of 36 beds in the CCU's and CSU's at the Regina General Hospital along with 15 dedicated medical cardiology beds and numerous medical service beds.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is dedicated to learning and is a partner in the growing educational needs of medical students and residents from the College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. The University of Saskatchewan is a research-intensive institution with 22,000 students and 7,000 faculty and staff, and a strong reputation for innovation and excellence. The College of Medicine has an intake of 100 students per year with a commensurate number of positions for residency training. The Department of Medicine has distributed training sites in Saskatoon and Regina.
The successful candidate will hold certification or be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Cardiology and be eligible for provisional or regular licensure from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan.
Preference will be given to candidates with specific training and experience in non-invasive Cardiology with experience in:
Adult Congenital Cardiology
Echo or Congestive Heart Failure
Echo or Cardiac Intensive Care
General non-invasive cardiology will also be strongly considered, particularly if an interest is expressed at developing skills in any non-invasive subspecialty, at a non-fellowship level.
This individual should be a team player, be able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff and management, and function well in a high volume environment with a commitment to provision of high quality patient and family centered care.
The successful applicant is expected to participate in the undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education programs of the Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology in the Regina Area and will be appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan.
