Job Description: Reporting to a Manager of Population Health, the Epidemiologist is a member of the Population Health department and works with partners across and external to the SHA (e.g., Health Quality Council, Indigenous Services Canada, Saskatchewan Ministry of Health, community based organizations) and builds effective working relationships with First Nations and Métis Health, Strategy and Innovation, corporate support portfolios (e.g. Academics and Learning, Quality and Safety, People Centred Care), Medical Health Officers, Primary Health Care (e.g. Health Networks, Clinical Integration), and Provincial Programs (e.g., Infection Prevention and Control, Laboratory Services) to inform the health system.

Experience

  • A minimum of one years' experience preferred

Education

  • Master of Epidemiology

Other Education and Training

  • Formal training in biostatistics would be an asset

Competencies

  • Demonstrates word processing skills using Microsoft Office programs

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to work independently
  • Computer applications to provide & interpret quality epidemiology info
  • Knowledge of analyzing, reporting of data and statistics
  • Knowledge of information sources related to Community Health Knowledge of research methods involving collecting data analyzing
  • Skilled at performing quantitative and qualitative evaluations
  • Competence in Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS)
  • Competence in Statistical Analysis System software (SAS), or EPI-INFO software
  • Ability to advise on the methodology of specific project evaluation(s)
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with the general public
  • Ability to maintain good working relationship w/ Community Health
  • Ability to undertake special epidemiological or related projects
  • Prepare reports and make related policy recommendations
  • Provide evidence-based information for program and policy change

Other Information

  • Experience with publishing programs would be useful
  • Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement. HSAS seniority within the Saskatchewan Health Authority will be considered under the Selection Criteria.
