The Wellness Wheel Medical Outreach Clinic is seeking family physicians with skills in obstetrics to join a unique practice based in Regina, SK. We work as an interdisciplinary team of physicians, registered nurses, and have access to a mental health counsellor. Further, this is a nurse-led model of care with daily patient care and case management from skilled Registered Nurses. Our RNs are trained in phlebotomy and offer blood collection services to patients of our practice.
Our permanent clinic is located in an underserved area of Regina, and we provide regular outreach clinics in collaboration with First Nation communities in Southeast Saskatchewan. Travel to the partner communities allows for in-person care delivery via day trips; there are no overnight trips. The physicians with obstetrical skills also provide intrapartum, post-partum, and newborn care to our patients at the Regina General Hospital. Our clinic operates with the Telus Med Access Electronic Medical Record.
This position is part-time and flexible. Remuneration is provided through a combination of fee-for-service billings and competitive daily stipends.
Experience working with Indigenous individuals, families and communities as well as underserved populations is essential to join our practice. Ability to provide culturally safe care using a broad harm reduction model is required. Experience in addictions medicine and a willingness to provide opioid agonist therapy would be a strong asset.
The candidate will hold certification or be eligible for certification from the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC). Successful applicants will be eligible for regular licensure from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan to practice in Saskatchewan.
All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; in accordance with immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) requires a criminal record check (CRC) from every potential SHA team member. The CRC must be dated within the past six (6) months and be satisfactory to the SHA. A vulnerable sector check (VSC) is required for individuals providing patient/resident/client care to vulnerable persons.
The SHA is committed to building a representative, diverse, inclusive and culturally responsive workforce. We are committed to the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action. We work in the spirit of truth and reconciliation acknowledging Saskatchewan as the traditional territory of First Nations and Metis people.
The successful applicant is expected to participate in the undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education programs of the Department of Family Medicine in the Regina Area. For additional information or to apply please contact:
