Job Description

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) Regina Area invites applications for the position of NCA (Neonatal Clinical Associate) to join our dynamic and expanding department. The NCA will work 12 and 8 hour shifts under the supervision of a Neonatologist to provide comprehensive in-house medical coverage of infants admitted to the Level III NICU at the Regina General Hospital as well as antenatal consultation service for common scenarios.

The NCA will be team-oriented and professional, demonstrating efficient decision-making and the ability to resolve clinical and professional issues. Significant autonomy for clinical duties is possible according to qualifications and experience.

Other duties include participating in guidelines, order sets and policy and procedure development. The NCAs also contribute to monitoring the standards of practice and planning, developing, implementing and maintaining quality improvement initiatives.

NCAs have opportunities to contribute to the development of knowledge and the improvement of practice for the sick neonates, including research participation.

Compensation: This is a contracted position. For a full clinical load expected compensation is over 300K / year at current rates.

Job Qualifications

The successful applicant will:

  • Qualify for licensure with CPSS as a Neonatal Clinical Associate
  • Have significant experience providing care in a level 3 NICU and be proficient with common procedures
  • Have completed formal Neonatal-Perinatal medicine training in North America or Western Europe, or will have practiced for at least 2 years in a similar NCA position in another level III NICU in Canada
  • Be a team player, be able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff, and management, and function well in a high-volume clinical environment with a commitment to the provision of high-quality patient and family centered care
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Additional clinical and /or academic skills / certifications
  • Success on the Royal College Subspecialist Examination Affiliate Program examination is an advantage
  • Candidates should be able to sustain a workload of 160-200 hours per month
