Job Summary

This position works as part of an interdisciplinary primary health care team. Under the direction of the Urban or Rural Primary Health Care Manager, the Nurse Practitioner will
provide primary health care services to the community. The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for clients in
the community both independently and collaboratively with a physician, depending upon the complexity of client needs. This includes: health promotion and protection; first line
treatment and emergency services; provision of supportive counselling and instruction in management of medical conditions; disease and injury prevention; initiating and
conducting community needs assessments and participating in evaluative projects; and collaboration with and referral to other health care professionals.

Education

  • Graduate from an approved School of Nursing.
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is desired.
  • Certification in Primary Care Nurse Practitioner or equivalent program is required.
  • Possession of, and ability to maintain, current registration as RN (NP) with College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS).
  • Current BCLS certification.

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years experience as a Registered Nurse in primary care, public health or acute care.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in community needs assessment, community development and health promotion.

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Demonstrates knowledge of community services, programs and resources.
  • Knowledge of health promotion and population health principles and concepts.

Other Information

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have a vehicle available for work.
  • Scheduled hours of work may be reduced (if applicable) during the rotation stipulated when a statutory holiday is recognized during that period.
  • This is a community based position providing services in clinic within the Primary Health Care (Regina) and can be assigned to one of the Primary Health Care Networks. Home base for this position is: 1504 Albert Street.
