Oncology Pharmacist is responsible for providing patient-focused pharmaceutical care, optimizing medication therapy and ensuring safe, comprehensive, effective drug distribution services for patients. Oncology Pharmacist is accountable to organization for monitoring adherence to treatment guidelines, compliance with policies and procedures and commitment to the management of drug resources. Job Description: QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy. Completion of a hospital pharmacy residency program at a recognized Canadian tertiary care hospital OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is an asset. Experience in an oncology setting is an asset. Memberships: Licensed with Saskatchewan College of Pharmacists. Skills: Demonstrates proficiency in the practice of pharmacy consistent with recognized standards of practice. Displays strong knowledge of the principles of pharmaceutical care. Demonstrates ability to learn the clinical aspects of cancer disease, treatment modalities and systemic therapy programs. Demonstrates knowledge and competency of aseptic techniques and the use of Biological Safety Cabinets, and processes for safe handling of hazardous drugs, including closed system drug transfer devices. Human relations skills are required to develop formal relationships of a therapeutic nature to assist others in achieving their short or long term goals. Ability and willingness to work cooperatively and effectively with SCA staff members and/or external partners. Ability to interpret detailed information and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload. Ability to work independently. Initiative and independent judgment required to solve complex problems. Ability to accept and implement change. Proficiency with a variety of computer systems and software applications.
