The Regina Area with the Saskatchewan Health Authority has a wonderful opportunity for a Sleep Medicine specialist in a community based, fee-for-service practice to provide service to a large referral base comprising Regina and southern Saskatchewan and to build a busy practice in an up to date setting. The area and division are committed to assisting our members to achieve a balanced lifestyle.
The clinical activities comprises of seeing new patient consultations and providing longitudinal care for those patients with sleep disorders including, but not limited to Insomnia; hypersomnia; circadian rhythm sleep disorders; sleep -related movement disorders; parasomnias, sleep-related breathing disorders. Other Clinical activities expected is to comprise primarily outpatient encounters, though there may be occasional need for inpatient consultation. Interpretation of level I and III polysomnography, multiple sleep latency testing, titration studies.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is dedicated to learning and is a partner in the growing educational needs of medical students and residents from the College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. It is our expectation that the successful candidate will obtain a Clinical Faculty appointment in the Department of Medicine.
The successful candidate will hold certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Internal Medicine and Adult Respiratory Medicine. Candidates must be eligible for provisional and regular licensure from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan to practice in Saskatchewan.
Preference will be given to candidates with formal training in sleep disorders medicine with an AFC accredited training program in Canada, or an accredited sleep medicine fellowship in the United States and having achieved ABIM certification in sleep medicine. Candidates who have completed the practice eligibility route (PER-AFC) and having achieved formal AFC designation and diploma with the RCPSC are also eligible to apply.
This individual should be a team player, be able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff and management, and function well in a high volume environment with a commitment to provision of high quality patient and family centered care.
The successful applicant is expected to participate in the undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education programs of the Department of Medicine in the Regina Area.
