Saskatchewan Health Authority - Saskatoon and University Saskatchewan, Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery seek a Hepatobiliary Surgeon to join their team. Collective responsibilities include clinical care of inpatients and outpatients as well as education of undergraduate and postgraduate trainees. The successful candidate will have appointments in both the Saskatchewan Health Authority and the University of Saskatchewan, where teaching of surgical residents and medical students is integral. Participation in the acute care general surgery roster including call is required.
The candidate will have demonstrated expertise in hepatobiliary surgery having undertaken an AHPBA recognized fellowship program in hepatobiliary surgery. They should also have experience in robotic surgery including training in robotic HPB surgery. The candidate must have extensive experience in minimally invasive surgery, including a Fellowship Council accredited fellowship in minimally invasive surgery. Furthermore, the candidate must have training in advanced therapeutic endoscopy, including ERCP, EMR, stenting and dilatation therapies. Completion of SAGES Fundamentals of Endoscopic Surgery (FES), Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery (FLS) and Fundamental Use of Surgical Energy (FUSE) courses is mandatory. The candidate will have an active interest in research, demonstrated by completion or current undertaking of a post-graduate degree and interest in further developing the research activities of the division and the department. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated interdisciplinary competence as demonstrated by active participation in multidisciplinary rounds. The ideal candidate will also have demonstrated interest in ongoing professional development and engagement in surgical societies as demonstrated by active participation in surgical societies and their associated committees.

The successful candidate will hold certification or be eligible for certification in General Surgery with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS). Recognized fellowship program in hepatobiliary surgery is required.

The UofS is a research-intensive institution with 22,000 students and 7,000 faculty and staff, and a strong reputation for innovation and excellence. It is home to the newly constructed Academic Health Sciences Complex and two of the largest science projects in the country - the Canadian Light Source synchrotron (www.lightsource.ca) and the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization/International Vaccine Centre . A users group is available for collaborative research with clinical faculty using the $173.5 million Canadian Light Source synchrotron, owned by the University of Saskatchewan. The College of Medicine has an intake of 100 students per year with a commensurate number of positions for residency training.
