Job Description: The Mental Health and Addiction Service (MHAS) Community Outreach Nurse Practitioner RN (NP) is an advanced practice nurse with knowledge and skills gained through additional education and experience. The Nurse Practitioner blends an in-depth knowledge of nursing with the legal authority to order diagnostic tests, prescribe pharmaceuticals and perform specific procedures in the management and treatment of common acute illnesses and stable chronic conditions. The RN (NP) practices within a framework of evidence-based primary care and mental health and addictions care. The RN (NP) promotes holistic, promotion and prevention care with an understanding of the determinants of health. The practice involves building partnerships with individuals, families and communities. This includes community needs assessment, supporting inter-professional collaboration and participating in continuous improvements through evaluative processes/projects.

Human Resources Exemption: No

Experience

  • 2 years FT recent experience as RN working with marginalized populations in MHAS
  • Three (3) full-time years of experience as a Registered Nurse

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)

Licenses

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license

Other Education and Training

  • Nursing diploma is acceptable
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Certificate (BCLS)
