The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) - Saskatoon and the University of Saskatchewan are seeking a pediatric emergency physician to join their team on a full-time or part-time basis, (0.50FTE up to 1.0FTE). The successful candidate will provide specialist pediatric services in an emergency environment in a tertiary care facility serving Saskatchewan residents. The pediatric emergency physician is responsible for providing all clinical medical services for children attending the Pediatric Emergency Department and teaching trainees. There are opportunities for research with Department of Pediatrics support available. This academic position includes assistant professorship with the University of Saskatchewan.
The Pediatric Emergency Department-Saskatoon is located on the ground floor of the new Jim Pattison Children's Hospital (JPCH). The hospital offers state-of-the-art equipment and facilities for children, mothers and families from across the province. Centrally located on the University of Saskatchewan campus, our new children's hospital offers neonatal intensive care, pediatric intensive care, general pediatrics, pediatric emergency and ambulatory services. Maternal services include labour and delivery, antepartum and postpartum care. The 176-bed facility provides the highest quality of care and places Saskatchewan at the forefront of research and innovation.

Candidates must hold an MD degree, a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship Certification or Emergency Medicine Certification and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS).

USask is a research-intensive institution with 22,000 students and 7,000 faculty and staff, and a strong reputation for innovation and excellence. It is home to the newly constructed Academic Health Sciences Complex and two of the largest science projects in the country - the Canadian Light Source and the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization/International Vaccine. A users group is available for collaborative research with clinical faculty using the $173.5 million Canadian Light Source synchrotron, owned by the University of Saskatchewan. The College of Medicine has an intake of 100 students per year with a commensurate number of positions for residency training.
