The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) - Saskatoon and University of Saskatchewan, Department of Medicine Emergency Medicine, are seeking physicians to provide sexual assault response services. As part of a roster of 15-20 physicians services are provided 24 hours/day, 365 days/year with on-call physician coverage to respond to adolescent and adult victims of sexual assault who present to an Emergency Department within Saskatoon. The physician on-call will provide a response to the Emergency Department within 15 minutes by phone and in person within 90 minutes of being notified by emergency staff (as per Tier 2 call requirement).
As a member of the Sexual Assault Response services team you will provide patient-centered and trauma informed care to survivors of recent sexual assault, including assessment, investigation and medical treatment; collecting forensic evidence when necessary and forwarding to the appropriate police department and referring to medical specialties as required. You will also attend court for sexual assault cases as required.
Training will be provided by an existing physician or sexual assault nurse examiner within the Sexual Assault Response team.
Successful candidates must be eligible for licensure in the province of Saskatchewan with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) and eligible to obtain and maintain membership on the SHA-Saskatoon Practitioner Staff.

It is home to the newly constructed Academic Health Sciences Complex and two of the largest science projects in the country - the synchrotron Canadian Light Source and the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization/International Vaccine. A users group is available for collaborative research with clinical faculty using the $173.5 million Canadian Light Source synchrotron, owned by USask. The College of Medicine has an intake of 100 students per year with a commensurate number of positions for residency training.
