The Saskatchewan Health Authority - Saskatoon and University Saskatchewan, Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiac Surgery seek a cardiac surgical assistant to join their team. Collective responsibilities include clinical care of inpatients and outpatients as well as education of undergraduate and postgraduate trainees. The successful candidate will have appointments in both Saskatchewan Health Authority and the University of Saskatchewan, where teaching of surgical residents and medical students is integral. Participation in the acute care general surgery roster including call is required.
The candidate will have demonstrated expertise required for assisting in Cardiac Surgical procedures in the operating room. The candidate will have an active interest in research, demonstrated by completion of a post-graduate degree and interest in further developing the research activities of the division and the department. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated interdisciplinary competence as demonstrated by active participation in multidisciplinary rounds.

The successful candidate will hold certification or be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Surgery and/or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) for a Surgical assistant licence.

A users group is available for collaborative research with clinical faculty using the $173.5 million Canadian Light Source synchrotron, owned by the University of Saskatchewan.
