Job Description

The Saskatchewan Health Authority - Saskatoon and the University of Saskatchewan, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology invite applicants to apply for a 2 year fellowship training program in Urogynecology and Complex Gynaecological Surgery, commencing July 1, 2025. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, functions under the Saskatchewan Health Authority and all positions are linked to the University of Saskatchewan, College of Medicine. The Department currently has four Urogynecologists and one Urologist that plan to participate in the training of a fellow. We do recognize that Urogynecology is not currently a recognized Royal College fellowship, but the application for recognition has been submitted by the Canadian Society of Pelvic Medicine.

Training Structure and Responsibilities:

  • Office consultations, pessary fittings, urodynamic testing
  • Outpatient cystoscopy
  • Operating time with each member of the division
  • Clinic time at the Pelvic Floor Pathway, based in Saskatoon City Hospital, to collaborate with the nurse practitioners and pelvic floor physiotherapy team
  • Potential for Colorectal and/or surgical oncology rotation in Saskatoon to facilitate general surgical skills, pelvic dissection, etc.
  • Elective time is a consideration with permission from the program director
  • Formal urodynamics course
  • Expectation of a clinical research study, and potentially a systematic review
  • Regular academic rounds, journal article review within the division group
  • Regular teaching sessions with the resident on the Urogynecology rotation
  • Attendance of international conferences will be encouraged

Job Qualifications

Minimum requirements include an MD (or equivalent) degree, certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and eligibility for provisional licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS); eligibility licensing that permits independent practice will be regarded as an asset. This position is open to all qualified candidates; however, priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada, and to trainees from Canadian residency programs. International medical graduates must ascertain their eligibility for registration with the College / physiciansapply.ca before applying.

It is home to the newly constructed Academic Health Sciences Complex and two of the largest science projects in the country - the Canadian Light Source synchrotron (www.lightsource.ca) and the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization/International Vaccine Centre . A users group is available for collaborative research with clinical faculty using the $173.5 million Canadian Light Source synchrotron, owned by the University of Saskatchewan. The College of Medicine has an intake of 100 students per year with a commensurate number of positions for residency training.
