Job Description: Reporting to the Director of Workforce Planning and Staff Development, the Health Educator assists in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating clinical and non-clinical education programs. This position involves significant computer work, including in-depth literature searches, use of multiple media applications. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining staff education records, communicating with managers to validate required educational needs and competencies.

Education

  • Degree in Health Sciences and/or Administration

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and pleasant manner.
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proven knowledge and experience in policy development
  • Ability to plan, organize/coordinate efforts with other team members
  • Ability to develop and implement programs / resources from needs assessments
  • Knowledge of health services delivery in tertirary and/or rural locations
  • Ability to maintain harmonious working relationships.
  • Must be well organized and able to meet deadlines
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, independent judgment & organizational skills

Other Information

  • HSAS seniority in the SHA will be considered under the selection criteria
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Travel within the region and provincially
  • Preference to HSAS members as per the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement
