Job Description: In accordance with the mission, vision, and values of the Saskatchewan Health Authority and Mental Health and Addictions services, the incumbent is accountable for provision of direct concurrent mental health and addiction services to adults and their families. These services will include individual, group and family counseling, case management, and public education/consultation in the area of mental health and addictions. The incumbent shall function within the practice principles of the Mental Health and Addictions Services program management model.

Experience

  • Experience in teaching adults, facilitation skills, and leading group activities

Education

  • Bachelor of Chemical Dependency
  • Degree in Human Services/Health Sciences or related field

  • Knowledge of protocols and Legislation that related addictions and mental health
  • Ability to develop appropriate recovery plans
  • Ability to network and collaborate with internal and external resources/agencies
  • Ability to cope effectively with stress, change, and diversity
  • Knowledge of Health Information Protection Act and other legislation.
  • Proficient in referrals, assessment, counseling, and care planning
  • Ability to conduct training programs for caregivers and other groups
  • Knowledge in best practices in addictions and harm reduction strategies
  • Ability to conduct assessments/prioritize client needs/develop treatment plans
  • Knowledge in Developmental Model of Recovery
  • Proven ability to collaborate and partner with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Knowledge and practical application of the Mental Health Services Act
  • Knowledge in addiction issues and mental health disorders
  • Knowledge in addictions screening, assessment tools and procedures
  • Evidence of clinical leadership ability is an asset
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to be self-directed, creative, collaborative and to have sound judgement
  • Ability to design, initiate and conduct in service training for others.
  • Ability to collect, record, report comprehensive client information accurately
  • Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Sound judgment, tact, initiative and high standards of integrity/responsibility
  • Knowledge of community resources including treatment programs & support agencies
  • Knowledge in Motivational Assessment Process
