Job Description: In accordance with the mission, vision, and values of the Saskatchewan Health Authority and Mental Health and Addictions services, the incumbent is accountable for provision of direct concurrent mental health and addiction services to adults and their families. These services will include individual, group and family counselling, case management, and public education/consultation in the area of mental health and addictions. The incumbent shall function within the practice principles of the Mental Health and Addictions Services program management model.

Education

  • Bachelor of Chemical Dependency
  • Degree in Human Services/Health Sciences or related field

Other Education and Training

  • Bachelor Degree in a health related field
  • Bachelor Degree acceptable to the employer

  • Intermediate - Organizational skills

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Knowledge of protocols and Legislation that related addictions and mental health
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Knowledge in Motivational Assessment Process
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Services Act
  • Can design, conduct, evaluate educational training to various targeted audiences
  • Ability to collect, record, report comprehensive client information accurately
  • Sound judgment, tact, initiative and high standards of integrity/responsibility
  • Apply ethical, culturally sensitive and legal principles in practice
  • Ability to establish effective treatment relationships with clients
  • Knowledge in Mental Health and Addictions
  • Ability to refer to, network, and work cooperatively with community agencies
  • Accurately triage addiction(s), collectively develop a recovery and case plan.
  • Ability to function effectively in periods of high stress/emergent situations
  • Knowledge in development model of recovery (SMRS)
  • Knowledge of addictions screening and assessment tools and procedures
  • Ability to conduct training programs for caregivers and other groups
  • Ability to be self-directed, creative, collaborative and to have sound judgement
  • Knowledge of Health Information Protection Act and other legislation.
  • Knowledge in best practices in addictions and harm reduction strategies
