Job Description

The community of Watrous, located in Southeast Saskatchewan, is seeking team-orientated and professional family physicians to join their primary health care team. The successful candidates will work within a multi-disciplinary team providing primary health care services to the community of Watrous and the surrounding area and will work collaboratively with other medical professionals to support the acute care and emergency services in the area.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is dedicated to learning and is a partner in the educational needs of medical students, residents, nursing staff, and allied health professionals. Should the candidate wish to participate in the academic efforts of the Department of Family Medicine in our area, the SHA will support your application for an appointment with the University of Saskatchewan.

The position will remain open until filled and may be filled prior to the posted closing date.

Relocation Package

The successful candidate may be eligible for:

  • Relocation funding in exchange for a return of service, inquire for details
  • The Rural Physician Incentive Program (RPIP) which provides up to $200,000 over five years to family physicians practicing, or returning to practice, in rural and remote communities in Saskatchewan
  • The SMA Retention Fund, which provides financial reward to physicians who practice in the province for extended periods ranging from $7,000 - $14,000 per year

Job Qualifications

  • Certified or eligible to be certified with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
  • Regular or Provisional License with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) (or eligible to be licensed)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Recommended - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Successful SHA credentialing including but not limited to acceptable reference checks and criminal record check with vulnerable sector
  • Current Canadian Medical Protective Association coverage
  • Legal entitlement to work in Canada
