Who we are

Dawson Home Care provides client-centred services in client's homes to support them as they age in place.

This opportunity

Responsible for the professional nursing care for Home Care clients in Dawson City, the Home Care Nurse-Home Support Supervisor coordinates client care and collaborates with other Home Care staff (ie. Physiotherapists, occupational therapists) and community partners. This position will act as primary care coordinator by providing care management for all Home Care clients in Dawson City and surrounding area, including long-term care admissions and hospital discharges. This role requires a Nurse with excellent assessment skills and a passion for community practice. As a supervisor to full-time and on-call home support workers, the Nurse is responsible for recruiting, training, supporting and scheduling staff as they work in clients' homes as part of the home support program.

Essential qualifications

  • Eligible for Registered Nurse registration with a Canadian registered nursing regulatory authority.
  • Recently applied knowledge of nursing theory, practices and techniques normally acquired through work experience while working with seniors, adults and/or children preferably in a long term care environment
  • Team leader and/or supervisory experience

Conditions of employment

You must meet the following conditions before being hired or within the time frame noted.

TB screening, Vulnerable Sector RCMP security clearance, CPR Level HCP (completed within last 18 months), Food Safe level 1, Transportation Dangerous Goods, WHMIS 2015, valid class 5 Drivers Licence, and current registration with the Yukon Registered Nurses Association.

Job requirements

This job requires you to perform, and/or be exposed to, the following:

Shift work, exposure to animals, latex products, second hand smoke from residents, heavy lifting and bending.
