Regular Part-Time Position - (0.75 FTE)

This position is at the L10 level with an hourly pay range of $54.39 - $72.65

Reporting to the Director, Nursing, the incumbent is responsible for developing, coordinating and providing educational programs to improve competencies of clinical care providers. They ensure patient care quality, efficiency, and operational management through education, and oversee quality control, incident reporting, and policy development. The CNE manages departmental resources, recommends and implements process improvements, and follows up on incident reports for educational purposes. The assess the competencies of HCA's, LPN's, RN's, new grads, and Internationally Educated Nurses, making patient care safety recommendations to the CCM's. Additionally, the CNE supports the mentoring of new nursing employees and preceptoring of final practicum clinical nursing students in collaboration with the CCM and external partners.

  • Ability to integrate philosophical and theoretical perspectives into teaching practices;
  • Ability to develop, implement and assess nursing programs, curricula and course design relevant for current and evolving practice environments;
  • Ability to develop, implement and evaluate learner assessments, making recommendations regarding employee competency;
  • Knowledge of clinical simulation methodologies;
  • Engages in multiple forms of scholarship to inform their teaching/learning and nursing education;
  • Knowledge of standards of practice for RN/LPN, and HCA's;
  • Knowledge of established practices, policies and procedures of professional nursing care;
  • Knowledge of legislature/regulatory requirements;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a variety of terms, groups, and individuals;
  • Demonstrated leadership skills;
  • Demonstrated computer literacy;
  • Effective organizational skills;

    The successful applicant will have a Baccalaureate/Diploma in Nursing, a Master's degree in Nursing or Adult Education (completed or in progress), advanced training or certification in adult learning pedagogies or obtained within a year of hire, current registration with the Yukon Registered Nurses Association, current BLS certification, Five years clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting at a senior supervisory level, relative experience and training with Indigenous populations and trauma informed care. and One to two years' experience as an educator/instructor; training & development; An equivalent combination of training and/or experience may be considered. Current BLS instructor, ACLS instructor and PALS instructor certification or willingness to obtain within one year, TNCC or EPICC instructor status, CTAS instructor status, NRP instructor status, ACoRN instructor status, minimum two years experience as an educator/instructor: training and development are desired. An equivalent combination of training and/or experience may be considered. This position may be required to travel to Watson Lake and Dawson City.
