This posting will be used to fill 1 permanent full-time Nurse In Charge position at Whitehorse Health Centre, working 75 hours bi-weekly. It will establish a 6 month eligibility list which will be used for future identical or similar vacancies.

The job is based in the thriving and diverse city of Whitehorse in the beautiful Yukon.

Essential qualifications

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

  • Current registration in good standing with a Canadian registered nursing regulatory body.
  • Significant and recent immunization experience in a community health nursing role.
  • Substantial experience in community public health nursing.
  • Extensive and recent experience in a supervisor role leading a team in a health care setting.

Desired knowledge, skills and suitability

If selected for an interview, candidates should have, and may be assessed on, the following:

  • Strong knowledge and management of community health programs
  • Strong clinical supervisory skills in a public healthcare setting
  • Strong community health-focused leadership skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication, organization and flexibility
  • Ability to lead, instruct, and counsel
  • Clear understanding of confidentiality and privacy

Conditions of employment

You must meet the following conditions before being hired or within the time frame noted.

  • TB risk Screening
  • RCMP Security Clearance with vulnerable sector
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent
  • Current registration in good standing with the Yukon Registered Nurses Association,
  • Current CPR HCP
  • WHMIS 2015 (within one month of hire)

Job requirements

This job requires you to perform, and/or be exposed to, the following:

  • Occasional extended hours into evenings, on weekends and/ statutory holidays,
  • Regular exposure to infectious agents,
  • Willingness and ability to travel by road and air,
  • Ability to lift up to 15kg.
