Job Summary and Requirements

We are looking for a dynamic, dedicated, and enthusiastic individual who provides all Yukon students with equitable access to learning achievement and the pursuit of excellence in all aspects of their education. As a Speech Language Pathologist, your role will be to identify and support a broad range of speech and language needs for students in the public school system across the Yukon. Through assessments and consultations, you will provide intervention assistance and program development for students. This position also participates as a member of a multidisciplinary team to assist schools, parents, and caregivers in supporting students with special learning needs. This position may also screen for, program for and supervise the implementation of Tier 2 speech and language groups by Communication Assistants (EAs) and may also participate on multi-disciplinary assessment teams.

Essential Qualifications

  • Master's Degree from a recognized Speech-Language Pathology program.
  • Registered with the Canadian Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (CASLPA)
  • Experience completing speech and language assessments and recommendations for school-aged youth with speech, behaviour, literacy, and language disorders or difficulties; providing consultation to students, parents, and staff
  • Fluency in the French Language would be an asset.
  • Recent experience in being part of a multidisciplinary diagnostic team for FASD would be an asset
  • Recent experience providing support and programming in assistive technology would be an asset

Additional information

This is a designated position within the Yukon public service which requires the following condition(s) of employment:

  • Class 5 driver's licence or equivalent
  • Security clearance, including Vulnerable Sector Check

Job Requirements:

  • This position works onsite in an office environment
  • Travel within Yukon both urban and rural
