This position is at the L05 level with an hourly pay range of $33.93 - $42.93

Reporting to the Clinical Care Manager, Surgical Services, the incumbent registers all OR patients, schedules patient/client appointments for Cast Clinic and Minor Procedure Room, and liaises with patients/clients, physicians, hospital departments, and other personnel in and out of the territory. The incumbent is responsible for assisting in organizing the General Practitioners and surgeons minor procedure schedule, orthopedic surgeons cast clinic and maintain a database for waitlisted appointments, prioritizes consult requests, and communicates with Physician MOA (s) for updates. The incumbent recognizes their role in creating a culturally safe environment for patients and actively demonstrates their support, understanding and alignment with Yukon Hospitals Mission, Vision and Values.

Knowledge, skills and abilities required:
  • Solid knowledge of medical office procedures, technology and terminology;
  • Knowledge of Meditech Expanse scheduling and registration processes;
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize and adapt to workload variances;
  • Thoroughness and strong attention to detail;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with colleagues, peers, patients and families;
  • Excellent professionalism, tact, and ability to deal with agitated patients/family/supports, and physicians;
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office products (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook);
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment, ability to apply good analytical skills;
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position; and
  • Cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity.

The successful candidate would have a one year Medical Office Assistant diploma, Two (2) years' experience in a medical office, including experience scheduling patient appointments, Medical terminology and have current C.P.R. certification.
